Look at these comments on my post to Gamestop’s Facebook page. I asked an innocent question, got an answer in a rude manner, and apparently that makes me an idiot. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

But particularly video gamers.

It does seem that way. If it was any other store, I’m sure the only comments would be in agreement.

Maybe Gamestop only sucks as bad as it does because their clientele apparently want the employees to have pissy attitudes?

Facebook (and really every social media site) gamers tend to gravitate to awful behavior given the temptation. But it’s always minorities that are going too far /s

Really though, sorry about the treatment you got. I’ve wound up unsubscribing from most of my gamer FB friends, although that was more about white supremacism than anything.

Well it couldn’t have hurt to ask, but those we’re probably spoken for. That or the employee was going to sell them on Ebay or something.

There’s a reason I stick to single player games; gamers on the internet are fuckwads.

You should hunt them all down and make them Manhattans... with no maraschino cherry.

That’ll show em.

Yep, my entire online gaming experience lasted five minutes. Five minutes of being insta-smeared by foul mouthed 12-year-olds.

Look at it this way

You’ve learned a very important lesson

People, either singly or in battalions, are just no damn good

You’re first mistake was buying from Gamestop.

I’ll call bullshit on those people. If my GameStop has spare preorder perks they give them away until they are gone. Hell they even give the codes and stuff away if you buy it soon after it comes out.

Many “hard-core” gamers are socially awkward. Gamestop employees tend to be “hard-core” gamers. Ergo....

On the flip side, you probably weren’t the first person to walk in and ask for the freebie without meeting the qualifications for getting the freebie. I’ve been on the receiving end of that equation. When it’s socially awkward“hard-core” gamers who keep asking the question (in their socially-awkward manner), it’s not surprising that the employee was getting a bit tired of it.

I would have handled it with a call to the manager where the issue could have been dealt with one-on-one with the employee. A post to a Facebook page makes the problem known to millions of people. Imagine you had a bad day, snapped at somebody, then had the incident posted for the world to see.

That’s been my experience, too. I only posted in hopes that they would apologize and at least send me the codes in a message. I’m not thinking that will happen now.

I’m fairly certain that the rude employee actually was the manager, as she was the one the nice guy tried to ask for me.

I was planning to pre-order Mafia III while I was there, too, but I’m taking my business elsewhere for that one. I only went through with the Horizon purchase because I was already there.

If so, the next step up the line is the regional manager. I avoid posting problems/complaints which specifically identify a shop or a person anywhere on the ‘net. It just seems like a huge imbalance between problem and potential response.

Talking to the regional manager is an appropriate response. Taking your business elsewhere is also an appropriate response. Posting a complaint on Facebook is overkill in my book.

That’s why I made sure not to mention the store or her name. She was probably just having a bad day and not wanting to deal with what, in her mind, was an extremely stupid question.

But yeah. Gamestop replied to me, finally, and conveniently ignored the whole asshole employee thing just to tell me that she was right. Like... That’s not what I’m upset about, but okay.
